Spruce Creek Watershed Improvement Project and the Gundalow Company sold barrels though out the spring. The barrels were delivered by the Gundalow Company on their replica shallow-drafted cargo ship, once common in the tidal rivers and bays of the Piscataqua region and the Great Bay estuary in the late 1800’s, and used by the Frisbee Store for deliveries in Chauncey and Spruce Creeks.
Visitors were able to board the Gundalow and learn about how they carried freight between ocean going schooners and navigated up shallow rivers in the area to the growing towns in the region. Cotton, the raw material for the factories producing cloth, spices and other goods from around the world were transported from the schooners to area businesses by this method.
