Stormwater is the water that runs off impervious surfaces such as rooftops, paved streets, highways, and parking lots. Development creates significant changes in rainfall runoff quantities and is the number one source of pollutant contamination of our streams, rivers, ponds, lakes and estuaries. Increased surface runoff can cause stream channel degradation that can alter land use patterns and destroy local aquatic habitat. Managing stormwater runoff helps reduce pollution problems, erosion, and improves local watershed health.
SkyJuice New England has partnered with the the NH Estuaries Project, the University of New Hampshire Stormwater Center, the UNH Jackson Marine Estuarine Laboratory (Tree Box Filter), Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and the MA Department of Environmental Protection (Rain Barrel Programs) to develop low impact, appropriate stormwater management strategies and help protect local water quality.
